The universe, a dream experiencing itself, begins to destroy all life within it as the consequences presented by different species’ and civilizations’ presence begin to outweigh the diversion that the universe’s spectacles present. Before rebuilding like so many times before, this force reflects on the peace and solitude that it’s found in being completely and totally without the company of the beings that have polluted and plundered it for eons.

The sky has opened in the recent days As it’s no longer choked upon the clamor of a race For the first time, I hear for miles away Just in time for my having nothing more to say

I pull away the curtain of the smoke that’s stung my eyes From waking up alone to the beginning of my life Lighter than I would’ve guessed from all the other times As it is swallowed in the throes of a gutted sky
